WISHES AND THOUGHTS

"O Lord, how marvelous Thy face, Thy viso, che un giovane,
se cercasse di immaginarlo, concepirebbe come quello di un giovane;
un uomo maturo, come quello di un uomo maturo;
e un vecchio, come quello di un vecchio!
Chi potrebbe immaginare questa unica immagine, la più vera e la più adeguata, di tutti i volti - di tutti e di ciascuno -, questa immagine che è completamente di ognuno perché non è di nessuno?
Bisognerebbe andare oltre tutte le forme di viso e tutte le figure possibili.
Ma come immaginare un viso quando si debba andare oltre tutti i volti, tutte le sembianze, tutte le figure e tutti i concetti che possono darsi di un volto, e tutti i colori, ornamenti e bellezze di tutti i visi?
Quindi chiunque contempli Your face, it forms a concept, it is far from your face. Why all the concepts of face are insufficient, O Lord, for your face, and all the beauty that can be conceived are less than the beauty itself, while your face, O Lord, has a beauty that is the beauty of self. It is therefore absolute beauty, which is what gives shape to all forms beautiful. O
strikingly handsome face, whose beauty never tire of admiring all those who have been allowed to contemplate! In every face you see the Face of faces, veiled and enigmatic, it can not be seen naked until you enter into a certain secret and mystic silence where there is neither knowledge nor the concept of face. This mist, cloud, darkness or ignorance, in which one who seeks Your face goes when it goes beyond all knowledge or concept is the state under which your face can not be as veiled, but just what ' Your face reveals that the darkness is there, beyond the veil.>>
